Another movie recommendation: Kit Kittredge, An American Girl. I thought it would be a shameless brainwashing ploy to get me to spend $560 on a doll, but no, it's a great movie! Great acting, great plot, great soundtrack and great 1930's wardrobes.
I was personally inspired by Julia Ormond gardening in a dress and heels. It's rated G and you'll leave the theater all warm and fuzzy inside, and not because you ate a bucket of buttery popcorn.

Is that how much those dolls cost these days??!! I really hope you're exaggerating for dramatic effect!
I've heard good reviews of that movie from several bloggers now.
No, they don't cost quite that much, but if you get lots of accessories, it can add up. Those dolls are better dressed than I am.
