Mystery and Manners

I'd like to start a new category of posts. One will be dedicated to the weird world of friendship and manners and the entwined social etiquette that governs us all. Here's our first advice letter:

Dear Minimal Shrinkage,

I was enjoying dinner with my dear friend last night, for her birthday. Just the two of us, no kids. She spent most of dinner texting on her phone. She texted all through dinner, while were strolling through Barnes and Noble (sacrilege!) and then while she was driving home. I can understand the occasional text from kids, hubby or personal assistant. But, non-stop??

I was a little put out, since a) how many times are we out without kids and b) we dined at an Irish Pub and I couldn't enjoy the Corned Beef and Cabbage.

What is the best course of action? If it was my 14 year old, there wouldn't be an option. His phone would be in someone else's Bangers and Mash.

What should I do?

Signed,

Don't drink and text in TX
